Nexus x Ninja Kiwi: Introducing Paid UGC to Bloons TD 6

In typical Ninja Kiwi form, Bloons TD 6 just got “more awesomer”! In the latest update, Ninja Kiwi introduced the “Accolade” system, allowing players to award praise to in-game map creators. 

Bloons TD6 players can now purchase accolades, which are awarded to map creators as a sign of their appreciation of the map. Upon receiving the accolade, the map creator receives a share of the purchase as well as an animated badge which is persistently attributed to the map; indicating to players that others have enjoyed playing the map. Nexus facilitates the attribution and manages the creator and payout processes, so Ninja Kiwi can continue to focus on making the best game possible.

How It Works

A player who wants to support a map creator can purchase and send one, five, or twenty accolades to the map creator of their choice. The map creator will receive 35% of the revenue from the accolade purchase as well as an animated badge that appears next to their map in the BTD6 Content Browser.

The deal is even sweeter for video content creators (i.e. YouTubers like Tewtiy, Alukian, or ISAB) who also make maps. Assuming a member of their audience also has the specific video content creator’s code entered in their settings, the creator will then earn 50% of the revenue from any accolades attributed to their map.

For example, if a player buys an accolade for Tewtiy's map. Tewtiy will earn:

• 35% if the player has no creator code entered, or the code of another creator

• 50% if the player has Tewtiy's creator code entered.

Map creators can track how many accolades they’ve received within the Content Browser. 

Upon clicking the accolade button, they’ll see which of their maps have been praised by others and can then register with Nexus to cash in on their accolade earnings.

They’ll be prompted to connect their Ninja Kiwi and Nexus accounts and will securely enter their payment information on Nexus, just like any other content creator would.

Expanding the Creator Ecosystem

The addition of the accolade system is awesome and has already spurred players to become map makers. We’re excited to expand support to these map creators as well as provide additional support to video content creators who are now building in-game content!
