Creator Code of ConductLast Modified: April 23, 2024
This code of conduct outlines our expectations for our partners as it pertains to their behavior in association with Nexus, the appropriate use and promotion of the platform as well as the consequences for unacceptable behavior and platform misuse.
All determinations of appropriate or inappropriate actions are at the sole discretion of Nexus staff.
In other words: We want to foster an environment and space where creators can thrive and truly realize their full potential; whether it be through a higher quality of engagement with their audience, better monetization from their already existing content, a more cohesive organization of their brand, or anything in-between!
The Do's and Don'ts below are a non-exclusive list of what is allowed and what's not. It's ultimately up to our discretion what does and doesn't fall under the umbrella of prohibited behavior/content on Nexus, full stop. That being said, if you ever have a question, feel free to ask, we're here to help! Treat others how you'd want to be treated yourself, avoid any nonsense or shenanigans, and we shouldn't have any problems.
Nexus Partners
Do
- Treat other creators on the platform with respect. The Nexus community is supportive and welcoming - we want every creator to succeed.
- Treat your audience and the users of your Nexus with respect.
- Use the platform to make your life easier; for content, promotion, engagement, etc.
Don't
- Do not violate widely-held principles of public morality or decency
- Do not intimidate or attempt to prevent other Creators from joining the Nexus platform. Creators of all types are welcome on the platform.
- Do not target other Nexus Partners or Creators with harassment or negative behavior. Likewise, do not encourage your audience to engage in these behaviors.
- Do not falsely promote your Nexus or defraud customers.
- Do not impersonate other content creators, celebrities or members of the general public, or any other party
- Do not engage in hate speech, incitement of violence, bullying, threats, spam, harassment, discriminatory or illegal behavior on your Nexus, someone else’s Nexus, or another platform.
- Do not commit any act or engage in any conduct which adversely impacts the platform’s reputation
- Do not contribute to, facilitate, or promote any form of doxing any individual
- Do not contribute to, facilitate, or promote any form of online or offline harassment, including but not limited to:
- Targeting of special interest groups
- Targeting of protected classes (Race, Creed, Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation)
- Racial Slurs
- Anti-LGBTQIA Statements
- Sexual harassment, assault, or misconduct
- Do not make purchases from your own Nexus
Building your Nexus
Do
- Personalize your Nexus! Your Nexus should reflect your brand, so get creative and leverage the existing and future features to make it wholly your own.
- Write reviews for each game in your store. While it’s not required, it is heavily encouraged.
Don't
- Do not include any sort of false or misleading content, harmful or violent content, including without limitation, content amounting to harassment, bullying or the financial or sexual exploitation of another person, hate speech, lewd or pornographic imagery in your Nexus. Such content will be removed from a user’s Nexus when identified and further action may be taken at the discretion of the platform, which includes suspension or complete removal from the platform.
Promoting Your Nexus
Do
- Disclose that all purchases in your Nexus support you. While having a Nexus isn’t a traditional sponsorship, it is akin to an affiliate relationship. As such, your community should be made aware that a portion of each purchase directly supports you. Consult the FTC Endorsement Guides and Disclosures 101 for examples of appropriate disclosures.
- Freely promote your Nexus within each of your social channels and wherever your community congregates. For example, you can set up purchase alerts, and/or create videos, tweets, chat commands, emotes that encourage individuals to visit your Nexus.
Don't
- Do not make a purchase from your store mandatory in order to receive an entry into a contest or giveaway.
- Do not engage in malicious advertising practices or any behavior contrary to the terms of use and community guidelines of the social platforms housing your Nexus. Refrain from spamming your Nexus on platforms where doing so will result in a ban; if it would get you banned elsewhere, it'll probably get you banned here.
- Do not violate any copyright or trademark of any brand or of the games in your Nexus.
Managing your Nexus
Do
- Keep your account information safe and private
- Keep the information of those who purchase from your store private
- Update your Nexus to stay accurate and in line with your brand
- Regularly check your payment information and sales to ensure everything is correct
- Respect other people's brands; whether it be that of a developer, a publisher, or other creators.
Don't
- Do not compromise the private data of your own account or the information of those who shop in your Nexus
- Do not defame the brands of games, publishers, or other creators on your Nexus. Nexus is not responsible for handling any third-party disputes, drama with other creators, or any similar issues. If third-party issues are to impact the reputation of the platform, Nexus may take discretionary action, which may include suspension or termination of your account.
- Do not reveal personal and/or private information of users or other Nexus partners
Consequences for Breaking the Code
Unacceptable behavior, illicit content, illegal actions, and any platform misuse otherwise will not be tolerated. Anyone asked or warned about their behavior will be expected to stop immediately. We reserve the right to take any action or measure we deem appropriate for the situation (which may include suspension or termination of your account or your access to Nexus). Our goal is to create a helpful, safe, friendly platform for creators to thrive. Help us make that happen.
